Candidates for Panthers Head Coach

December 5, 2019

As everyone has heard the Carolina Panthers have fired Ron Rivera after 9 seasons as the Head Coach. Here are a few Candidates that David Tepper should look to hire as the successor to Ron Rivera.

Josh McDaniels OC Patriots

Josh McDaniels has been a candidate for a few jobs over the last few years. He was also set to become the Colts Head Coach before he backed out of the job to stay OC for the Patriots. The only thing I see him not going to the Panthers is he might have a deal under the table to become the Head Coach of the Patriots after Belichick retires.

Greg Roman OC Ravens

Greg Roman is leading the best offense behind one of the greatest QB talents in the league in Lamar Jackson. Roman lead the attack for the 49ers in the early Kaepernick days. The thing holding this back from the Panthers hiring him is the future of Cam Newton, Roman has been behind the best running QBs performances in NFL history and a running QB is the key to success in his system.

Lincoln Riley HC Oklahoma

A name that has been circulating around in the rumor mill Lincoln Riley has been linked to the NFL for a few seasons now. Most likely he will end up being a Dallas Cowboy but Tepper might try to make a push for Riley because of his elite offensive play call ability and that his last 2 QBs have won the Heisman trophy. If he were to come to Carolina watch out for this Panthers team.

Robert Saleh DC 49ers

If the Panthers choose to go the Defensive route as Head Coach the number one guy they should look for Robert Saleh. He has one of the best defenses in the league in the 49ers and the Niners are currently sitting at 10-2. He can be a great motivator for the Panthers Defense who is really lacking this year even though they have the talent.

Scott Turner OC Panthers

This is an if as of right now. If the Panthers offense thrives under Scott Turner the Panthers might look to keep Scott Turner as Head Coach. Even though he has no experience at being an Offensive Coordinator the Panthers might look to keep on this trend that is being seen around the NFL that these Offensive guys getting hired aka the Sean McVay effect. If the Panthers elect to sign Scott Turner as their Head Coach hopefully it doesn’t turn into a Freddie Kitchens situation.

Those were a few candidate who I thought might get an interview with the Panthers this upcoming offseason.
