NoHuddleNHL’s Game of the Week: Dallas Stars at New Jersey Devils

October 15, 2018

Tuesday, October 16 at 7:00 EST

MSG+, FS-SW

Dallas Stars: 3-1-0

New Jersey Devils: 3-0-0

Two teams that have gotten off to a terrific start, the Devils and Stars are guaranteed to put on a great show on Tuesday night at “The Rock”. The Devils, who are currently undefeated, look to keep it that way as the Stars come to town. The Stars are looking to improve their record to sit towards the top of the Central division along with their Midwestern rivals in the Chicago Blackhawks and southern rivals Nashville Predators.

The key to this game for the Devils is pretty simple. Look for your offensive contributors and of course, don’t let Stars forwards Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin have room. Benn has tallied eight points in just four games as he has scored four goals and tallied four assists. A dynamic forward, if you give him time and space with the puck he will figure out something to do with the puck and if the past is like the future, he will burn you.

For Tyler Seguin, he has had an even more impressive start to his 2018-2019 campaign as he has tallied 10 points through just four games. With three goals and seven assists, the same rules apply. Take away his time and space with the puck and everything else should be manageable for the Devils’ defense.

In addition to that, Taylor Hall will always be a threat when he’s on the ice. Same goes for the stellar sophomore in Nico Hischer. A wild card that seems to be unstoppable at the moment is Devils forward Kyle Palmieri who has racked up six goals so far. Allow these players to run the offense and good things will happen.

For the Stars, they need to ride the hot hands that have gotten them three wins so far including an incredible comeback win against the Anaheim Ducks where the Stars saw themselves down 3-0 but scored five unanswered to win 5-3.

Allow the offense to run through guys like Klingberg and up to Seguin and Benn. Another key for the Stars is to play disciplined and draw penalties. If the Stars can get their power play which has connected six times already this season on the ice, that will certainly create some heavy scoring opportunities.

Prediction for this game is that the Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, and the Dallas Stars fast transition game sees them scoring a quick goal and never looking back. A 4-2 win for the Stars with an empty netter tallied at the end, Dallas improves to 4-1-0 and the Devils suffer their first loss of the season.
