College Football Weekly Picks

October 4, 2018

Another week is in the books and after an exciting week 5 of college football we look forward to the first weekend in October where things are expected to really pick up. Most teams are in the midst of conference play at this point and we are closing in on the first CFB Playoff rankings coming out soon. This week we look at a pair of SEC match-ups between LSU and Florida and Kentucky and Texas A&M. We also head out west to the PAC 12 to see two more match ups between Arizona and Cal as well as Arizona State vs Colorado. Our last match-up may be the biggest one of the weekend when Oklahoma and Texas meet in Dallas to renew the Red River Rivalry.

Florida and LSU is a match up of teams greatly exceeding expectations so far this year with the Tigers at 5-0 and Gators at 4-1. The Gators will be at home in the Swamp which should make it an interesting game. One of the more underrated rivalries with the winner of this game being ranked 20 of the past 23 years it usually has big implications on the SEC. Kentucky and A&M also meet this week as the Cats look to get their third big win in a row in College Station. If Kentucky can pull this one off then there is a good chance they will be undefeated in November when Georgia comes to town.

Arizona and Cal look to battle in Tucson as Khalil Tate and the Wildcats look to get things going against a Cal team which had a disappointing loss last week against Oregon. Arizona has looked a little better each week since their disappointing start to the season. This could be the week they put it all together. Colorado is a sleeper team in the PAC12 this year starting off 4-0. This week will be a big test as a good ASU team comes to town. If the Buffs can win this one they will be the favorite in the PAC-12 south the rest of the way (if they aren't already).

The big one of the week is the game down in Dallas. Oklahoma vs Texas. This is the first time since 2012 in which both teams enter this game ranked as Texas looks to upset a top 10 Sooners team like they did in 2015. This series has been dominated by OU of late in terms of wins but each of the past 5 games have all been decided by two scores or less. With Texas fielding their best team since probably 2012 this one should be interested.

Without keeping you waiting too much longer, here are our picks for the games this weekend with an updated look at the rankings so far:
